ABOUT

THIS IS MY STORY

At the age of eleven, I performed in the musical Moby Dick, Hooglied voor een Walvis on Noordwijk beach. That was my first taste of the performative life and it was magical. I knew this was what I wanted to do.

But, like a lot of people, I told myself it wasn’t possible to be a successful actor and that I should focus on something ‘normal’ instead. But I kept on hearing that

whale song in my dreams.

In 2018, I made the decision to pursue my passion for acting. It was the best decision I ever made: you should never regret chasing your dreams.

I am currently living in Amsterdam and a student at the Toneel Vakschool in Rotterdam since September 2020. There I take classes from teachers such as Bart Kiene, Peter Oskam, Bambi Uden and Niels Kuijers. At school, various acting methodologies are offered during the classes in acting techniques through scripted theatre and improvisation. The classes in physical development help me get in touch with my physical self and highlight the power of movement. I believe physicality is an essential aspect of acting. The speech- and singing classes aid vocal projection and clarity, which is especially important for theatrical work.

In addition to my studies I take weekly singing lessons with Anne Groen and dance classes at the Amsterdam Dance Center (modern, tap, jazz and ballet). I’ve also taken various acting courses in the last couple of years at Vooropleiding Theater Nederland, CREA and the Toneelmeester..

One of the things I most love about acting is that no two days are the same; I get to live multiple lives through my work. On television, I have played a love-struck girl in the international Mooi Wat Bloemen Doen commercial and an enthusiastic shop employee for SNS Bank. More recently, I played the role of an insecure intern in the major new series Keizersvrouwen by AVROTROS.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work with some great brands such as Blokker, Gamestate, R-Net and Fuji Instax Camera. I also regularly appear in various short films which you can view on my website. I love doing short films and student films as I have more freedom to experiment and collaborate in the creative process. On the big screen, I had a leading role in the arthouse film Promise by Mayumi Nakazaki. With each project I feel as though I’m taking another step towards my dream.

It was nice to go back to my roots in 2018 with my role as Rusty in the musical production of Footloose at the CREA theater in Amsterdam. Looking back to my personal journey helped me in playing the part of 16-year-old Juul Breder in De Laatste Show, produced by Theatercollectief GARP. Beginning of 2020 I tried to show the insecure and raw side of the extreme Robin, a young woman suffering from borderline in the production of Het Geheugen van Water.

The fire, the passion that I feel within me when I‘m touched by a certain performance, it’s almost indescribable. The possibility that I might be able to light that fire in someone is what drives me, it’s an incredible gift to be able to give another person.

What the future will bring I do not know. But I do know that hard work and dedication will take you where you want to go in life. This is just the beginning of my journey.
